4th International EcoSummit Showcases Ohio’s Ecological Diversity

COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 3, 2012) – For the first time in North America, EcoSummit 2012 mobilized more than 1,500 scientists, economists and corporate leaders from 75 countries to showcase the vast ecological diversity within Ohio.

Top Upcoming Highlights from Day Four of EcoSummit 2012: Thursday, October 4, 2012

  1. Ecology and economy are more closely intertwined than most people think. Lester Brown, founder of the Earth Policy Institute, explains how climate change could create economic calamity unless immediate action is taken.
  1. The recent draught highlighted global food security issues that could impact billions worldwide. Ohio State University Professor Rattan Lal showcases solutions in the soil that can help combat global climate change.
  1. The President of Iceland, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, visits EcoSummit 2012 to discuss the international dialogue on renewable energy and climate change.
  1. Elinor Ostrom was a global thought leader in the study of collective action and community-based governance of natural resources.
