Unique Temperature Indicator Offers Ease of Use for At-a-Glance Temperature Monitoring

PDC Healthcare, a global leader of innovative identification and patient safety solutions, announced today it has added Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 blood temperature indicators to its extensive product offering for hospital blood banks and surgery centers. Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 is the only indicator on the market that doesn’t require pre-conditioning and is easily activated with a push of a button. Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 is intended to monitor the temperature of blood bags during transportation and storage to help maintain quality control and assurance.

Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 indicators help blood banks and hospitals meet AABB Standards and the FDA’s CFR 600.15(a) for monitoring temperature of whole blood during transportation and storage. Once activated and applied to a pre-chilled blood bag, the device monitors the temperature and indicates when the temperature breaches 10 degrees Celsius to alert clinicians that the temperature has exceeded the recommended guidelines. Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 is easy to use and the indicator requires no special conditioning prior to use, unlike other indicators which require heating or refrigeration for specific time periods prior to activation. Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 has FDA 510(k) clearance.

“While the Thirty Minute Rule is the current standard for blood transportation, Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 provides added assurance by monitoring the temperature of the blood units,” said Heather Hudson, Product Manager for PDC Healthcare. “Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 is the easiest indicator to use and we believe our customers will benefit from having an additional mechanism for maintaining quality control.”

Timestrip® Blood Temp 10 is packaged in boxes of 100 indicators and is distributed by PDC Healthcare. Timestrip® Blood Temp 6 is also offered for monitoring temperature during storage. For more information about Blood Temp 10, please visit www.pdchealthcare.com/bloodtemp10.
