ValuePlus® Helps Hospitals Standardize Purchasing and Achieve Patient Safety and Regulatory Compliance

PDC Healthcare, the global leader of innovative identification solutions, will present its patient ID wristbands, labels, and related products for Premier, Inc. members at Premier’s 2014 Breakthroughs Conference and Expo from June 10 to 13, in San Antonio, TX.  Premier members can take advantage of PDC Healthcare’s unique ValuePlus® Standardization Service, which helps organizations to minimize costs and maximize efficiencies by standardizing products and streamlining orders through a single-source provider.

ValuePlus® is the only standardization service of its kind that combines best practices for patient safety, regulatory compliance, and fiscal control. Through centralized purchasing of PDC Healthcare products, organizations can reduce SKUs, POs, labor, and supply costs, while achieving easy visibility and tracking of total spend. PDC Healthcare’s innovative products help healthcare institutions to adopt best practices to protect patients, improve clinical outcomes, and maintain important regulatory guidelines. These include The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals, HIPAA for protection of patient privacy, and APHA to reduce the risk of lost or transferred data.

In booth #2311, PDC Healthcare will display its wide assortment of identification products, including innovative bar code and human-readable wristband ID solutions; specialty labeling including printer labels for lab and pharmacy, and companion/chart labels; as well as skin markers and filing products. New innovations include the TEMPbadge® Visitor Management System, which allows hospital security to quickly identify visitors to help deter violence as part of an overall safety protocol. Also on display will be the new TrustSense™ Patient ID Printing Solution, which provides on-demand printing of both wristbands and labels at bedside to prevent costly patient and specimen ID errors and improve patient safety. PDC Healthcare partnered with Brother, a leader in mobile and label printing technology, to launch the thermal printer solution, which works exclusively with PDC Healthcare media.

PDC Healthcare products are available under the national Premier contract PP-MM-186 and ASCEND® contract AS-MM-186, an accelerated supply chain endeavor program. Members who participate in Premier’s ASCEND program can achieve even greater savings with access to a discounted fourth tier of pricing. To date, ASCEND members have saved more than $192,000 using PDC Healthcare products.

“The healthcare industry faces unprecedented pressures to increase the quality of care, while reducing costs,” said Tracey Carpentier, president of PDC Healthcare. “PDC Healthcare is committed to helping Premier members improve operational efficiencies and financial performance, while enhancing patient safety and maintaining important patient safety regulations.”
