PEOPLECERT becomes the first global certification organisation to accept Bitcoins
Professionals who seek to enhance their skills with an ITIL, PRINCE2 or other Project and Program Management certification can now pay for their online exam with Bitcoins
PEOPLECERT (www.peoplecert.org) today announced it has become the first global certification organisation to accept Bitcoins, the peer to peer digital currency that exists solely as an online payment. This means that for the first time, professionals who are looking for an ITIL®, PRINCE2® or any other Project and Program Management exam offered by PEOPLECERT, can use the digital currency to buy their exam.

Bitcoin offers a fast, secure and cost effective form of online payment and if it gives 10 per cent of professionals who don’t want to use a credit card or Paypal an alternative option to pay, then we want to make that option available for them” Vassilis Papachristodoulou, PEOPLECERT’s Internet Marketing Manager said. Papachristodoulou added that offering the Bitcoin option serves the demographic of 25-35 year-old professionals who choose to enhance their career through a globally recognised certification path, such as the ITIL or the PRINCE2 one.
From online proctoring to online candidate tools such as e-certificates and online certificate verification and taking, exam administration tools for exam administrators and invigilators, PEOPLECERT has been the pioneer of technological innovations in what is considered to be a “traditional” industry.
Professionals can now go to www.peoplecert.org to find the exam they want and pay by Bitcoin. Anyone who has Bitcoins has a “Bitcoin wallet,” a digital wallet where the currency is stored in a secure server online. Once paid, candidates choose the time and date they want to take the exam. The exam is an online proctored one, which means they can choose where and when to take it, with the help of a trained online proctor. Once done, candidates receive their results and e-certificate within two days.
Bitcoin won a Linux award as the “most innovative open-source project” at CeBIT 2014 while the list of large organisations that accept Bitcoins, such as eBay, WordPress and Zynga, continues to grow.
