PEPID, T-System Renew Five-Year Partnership
Alliance reinforces a shared commitment to accuracy, safety in U.S. emergency department patient care
PEPID, the world’s leading provider of specialty medical and nursing software, and T-System, the industry leader in clinical content and workflow for emergency care, today announced a five-year renewal of their partnership to integrate PEPID’s content into T-System’s EV™ emergency department information system (EDIS). The two companies extended their relationship to help further reduce medication errors and improve the health and overall economic outcome of clinical care for adults and pediatric patients in the emergency department (ED) through PEPID’s continual cycle of quality improvement.
The revised agreement extends T-System’s licensure of PEPID’s award-winning clinical decision-support content for emergency department facilities using T-System in the United States through 2019. This high-level integration into T-System’s existing EDIS is achieved primarily with the PEPID Knowledge Base, an SQL database that contains the company’s proprietary drug and medical content, disease profiles, drug monographs, data tables, stored procedures, and additional tools.

According to a 2013 article in the World Journal of Emergency Medicine, “The two most common factors associated with prescribing errors are a lack of knowledge about the drug prescribed and lack of knowledge regarding the patient for whom the drug is prescribed.”1 Both T-System and PEPID understand the best way to begin eliminating errors from the prescribing stage is to seek a standardization of clinical resources, namely drug knowledge and references. With T-System currently in use at 40 percent of the nation’s EDs and PEPID celebrating its 20th year in 2014 as a leader in web-based point-of-care solutions, both companies feel this partnership will remain beneficial for the nation’s EDs for at least the next five years.
