Crêchendo petitions against Government cuts

Spending cuts will adversely affect child care industry and families

17 March 2011 – Crêchendo, one of the UK’s most respected training organisations within the Early Years, Childcare and Playwork sectors, is urging the Government to reconsider its plans to close the Directgov’s Family and Childcare Search Facility. Once the search facility has been removed from Directgov on the 31 March 2011 there will no longer be a single source of childcare resource information in the UK. This closure will not only greatly affect parents wishing to find reliable childcare information but also hamper the efforts of businesses, such as Crêchendo, who offer services to the important childcare sector. Secondly, the removal of this invaluable source of information, which is not available with the same degree of comprehensiveness or consistency anywhere else, would be an appalling waste of the publically funded investment made in creating it. Philip Davies, Founder at Crêchendo says “we are greatly concerned about the closure of this invaluable search facility as it will not only reduce the number of important services, such as our training solution, offered to childcare providers but also impede the efforts of parents investigating childcare options. As an organisation, we are keen to investigate how we may be able to take over the running and funding of the Family and Childcare Services search facility. We are aware that time is not on our side but are hopeful that we may get a positive response from Directgov soon.” --ENDS-- Note to Editors: A copy of the initial letter sent to Michael Grove MP and ministers for Education, and also the petition filed is available from marketing@perfectlypicked.com About Crêchendo Crêchendo is one of the UK’s most respected training providers facilitating the qualification, education and development of individuals involved in the care of others, taking pride in delivering high quality solutions with proven results.
