Does your child resemble one of the East Midland region’s all-time football stars?  Whether it’s a pineapple headed Jason Lee, an angry Stuart Pearce, Derby legend Brian Clough, Stoke’s Gordon Banks, Leicester’s Gary Lineker or Notts County’s Les Bradd, the search is on for a ‘mini-me’ team of all-time football greats.

The “mini-me” campaign has been launched by pastry manufacturer, Peter’s, as part of their tie-up with the UK Masters Football tournament, which reaches the Nottingham Capital FM Arena this Saturday, 16thJuly.

Now in its tenth year, Masters Football is the world’s leading six-a-side football tournament and has featured a host of ex-professional stars, including Gianfranco Zola, Ian Rush, Mark Hughes, Peter Beardsley and Andy Cole.

Neil Court-Johnston, MD for Peter’s Food Service, said young people have been queuing up to imitate their idols:

“Over the next few months we’ll be scouring the country to find a group of youngsters who resemble a national team of ‘all time’ football masters. We’ve already had a great response from the North West, Yorkshire and London regions. Now it’s up to the East Midlands.

“The chosen team of look-a-likes will win the opportunity to attend the Grand Final at Manchester’s MEN Arena, meet some of the stars and tuck into some of our award-winning pies. Both girls and boys can apply and we will also allow the use of wigs, body paint or padding to enhance their chances.

“I’m really looking forward to what the East Midlands can come up with. As a lifelong Man City fan, I’d like to say I resembled a young Rodney Marsh as a child but perhaps only my Mum would join me in that comparison!”

The Masters Football Tournament started in June and will culminate with the Grand Final on September 4, having been held across seven venues and shown live on TV. The Central Masters will include Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Derby County, Leicester City, Stoke City and Peterborough United.

Peter’s Food Service Ltd began life as a small pie manufacturer, and today is one of Britain’s best-loved brands of pies, pasties, rolls and slices.

With 10 distribution depots throughout the UK, Peter’s currently supplies 38 major sports stadia & arenas, as well as fast food outlets, fish bars, restaurants, cafes, independent retailers, schools, hospitals and hotels with a range of over 900 separate product lines.
