Pilot coffee is roasted for the road with quality sourcing, exclusive roasting process and customized in-store experience

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (September 23, 2015) – The best cup of coffee you’ve ever tasted may be just an exit away on your local interstate. And on September 29 that cup will be free* in honor of National Coffee Day.

Pilot Flying J, the largest operator of travel centers in North America, will celebrate National Coffee Day with free 16 oz. cups of coffee when customers show an online coupon available on the company’s Facebook page. And while free cups of coffee are sure to excite coffee drinkers on the road, it’s the quality, variety and in-store experience of Pilot coffee that will keep them coming back for more.

“A lot of people find themselves on the road every morning, whether they are commuters, travelers, or professional drivers, but many don’t realize that the great cup of coffee they need to kick start their journey can be found at most exits simply by stopping at a Pilot or Flying J,” said Ken Parent, chief operating officer of Pilot Flying J. “We believe we have the best coffee on the interstate and that drivers should never have to sacrifice quality, flavor or customization, and on September 29, we invite drivers to taste it for themselves free of charge and see if they agree.”

What helps set the Pilot coffee experience apart from the rest of the industry is that the 650-unit chain of travel centers sources its beans from top regions around the world, including Columbia, Brazil and Indonesia, and then brings them back to the U.S. to be roasted locally in Portland, Ore. From there, Pilot Flying J’s exclusive head roaster oversees the entire roasting process and ensures that all Pilot coffee blends feature great taste with a proper coffee to water ratio.

Once in-store, Pilot and Flying J customers can choose from up to seven different blends at one time in most locations, as well as a wide selection of creamers, toppings, syrups and take-home coffee options. Moreover, exclusive Coffee Hostesses can be found at numerous locations, where they work to keep all containers continuously filled and fresh, and offer recommendations to help customers choose the right blend for their needs and tastes.
