Pine Manor College Creates “Women of Promise Scholarship”

New $20,000 scholarship will be awarded to ten students

Boston, Mass. – Pine Manor College, one of the most diverse women’s colleges in the nation, today announced it will offer a new scholarship to ten students applying for the 2011-2012 school year.  The Pine Manor College Board of Trustees recently approved the creation of the “Women of Promise Scholarship” as part the college’s 100th year anniversary celebration in order to help women from low income families pursue higher education.

“The board’s creation of this scholarship demonstrates its commitment to young women of promise throughout the country,” Serena Kokjer Greening, chair of the Pine Manor Board of Trustees said.  “We are excited to offer this opportunity and are confident the scholarship will help these bright, deserving students achieve academic success.”

Each scholarship will be equal to $20,000/year for students who meet the following criteria:

1)    Submits an application for admission and all appropriate academic support documentation (transcripts/letters of recommendation/essay) to Pine Manor College by or before Monday, July 11, 2011;

2)    Have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0;

3)    If eligible to do so, file a FAFSA form by or before Monday, July 11, 2011

Once accepted and if the student enrolls for the fall, 2011 semester, the scholarship will continue to be awarded to the recipient if she maintains a 2.50 cumulative grade point average and remains in good social standing at the College.
