Asia is both top and bottom of the world Internet speed league

It should come as no surprise that the world's fastest Internet connection speeds can be found in Asia with Hong Kong offering an impressive 54.1 Mbps, the fastest in the world. According to the most recent Pingdom study, Asia is also home of the world’s slowest Internet connections.

Some of the key highlights from the study:

  • Asia has both the fastest and slowest internet speeds in the world, ranging from 2.9 Mbps in Iran to 54.1 Mbps in Hong Kong.
  • Asia has the lowest median Internet speed of all continents except Africa.
  • Europe is the continent with the fastest average Internet connection speed.
