Poolia has appointed Alfred Unterschemmann new head of operations in Germany. “He is skilled in the art of combining intensive sales efforts with rigorous cost control and also has extensive experience of the staffing industry. This makes him perfect for the job,” says Poolia’s CEO, Erik Strand.

Alfred Unterschemmann is 42 years old and a graduate business administrator. His most recent appointment was with Deutsche Post, where he was in charge of the internal staffing agency. Previously, he spent five years as regional manager at Germany’s largest staffing company, Randstad, with responsibility for 13 local offices and a total of 1,400 employees. Prior to that, he established a network of stores within the Norma retail group. “Poolia has experienced difficulties in the German market and we have conducted a vigorous package of changes to come to grips with these problems over the past year. We believe that a German manager who also has experience of the industry offers the right combination of characteristics needed to push through the necessary savings, to develop operations and to stimulate growth. Accordingly, it is highly gratifying to be able to welcome Alfred Unterschemmann to Poolia,” says Erik Strand. Alfred Unterschemmann will assume his new position on September 1. He will report to CEO Erik Strand. In 2004, Poolia reported sales equivalent to SEK 78 million in Germany, from local offices in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Mannheim and Munich.
