PREMNITZ PROJECT - BASIC ENGINEERING COMPLETED - RECEIVES IMPRESSIVE SUPPORT

On the 23rd of April 2021, Neue Energien Premnitz and Plagazi presented the completion of the basic engineering phase of their project to build the first Plagazi plant in Europe, in front of a delegation of Germany’s most important hydrogen players, led by Germany’s Innovation Commissioner for Green Hydrogen, Dr. Stefan Kaufmann. The parties also presented the results from the Green Hydrogen LCA-assessment made by DNV, the world’s largest certification body, and the timing of the next steps for the project, i.e., detailed engineering, construction and procurement. The aim of the project team is to have the plant up and in operation by 2023. 

The presentation was held in the Premnitz town hall, hosted by the Mayor of Premnitz, Ralf Tebling, and included supportive speeches for the project by, Dr. Stefan Kaufman (Germany’s Innovation Commissioner for Green Hydrogen), Prof. Dr. -Ing. Jörg Steinbach (Minister of Economy Brandenburg), Jorgo Chatzimarkakis (Secretary General of Hydrogen Europe), Jörgen Andersson (Former Swedish Minister of Interior, Swedish Minister of Energy and Chairman of Vattenfall) and and Prof. Dr. -Ing. Bernd Meyer (Director of the Institute of Energy Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering (IEC) in Freiberg). 

“I find your project very exciting,” said Stefan Kaufmann to the heads of Neue Energien Premnitz, Christian Gerstädt and Franz Richter. Such additional projects are needed and the federal government will have to support them.”* 
 
Later the delegation was shown the project site, which is already prepared for the installation and construction, with railway transportation connection, existing water, gas and electricity infrastructure and adjacent waste sorting facilities. 
 
Attending the meeting was also Wolfgang Rüße (CEO ALBA Süd GmbH), Martin Reichle (Head of Audi AG Neckarsulm) and Carina Krastel (Commercial Director of the European Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center) amongst others.
