B_E_E – Backgrounder

B_E_E (Beauty Engineered for Ever) www.bee.net.nz is a producer of ethical, environmentally responsible cleaning products based in Auckland, New Zealand. The company was founded by Brigid Hardy, a Harvard graduate and human rights lawyer whose background includes time as a legal private secretary to New Zealand’s Governor General and with Management Consultancy firm, McKinsey & Company. Brigid was also instrumental in reforming the country’s domestic violence legislation. The idea and inspiration to launch B_E_E arose from conversations with Stephen Tindall, one of New Zealand’s most successful entrepreneurs and philanthropists, who Brigid came to know during her time with McKinsey & Company.

Believing that being green doesn’t mean compromising on beauty, performance or sensual enjoyment, B_E_E has created a range of cleaning products using natural yet powerful ingredients and recyclable packaging that conveys a lively, confident sense of fun. While it’s not possible to source every ingredient from New Zealand, the brand essence and personality of B_E_E and its products reflect scientific integrity, humour and ethical commitment – traits that Brigid feels are natural to New Zealanders.

The result is a range of cleaning products that while, kind on the skin and environment, have been independently tested and proven to outperform leading mainstream and eco brands. B_E_E products are fragrant with essential oils and  use cleaning agents made from natural ingredients like coconut and sugar.

Each product has been dermatologically tested and designed to be gentle on skin.

B_E_E is the only range of cleaning products in New Zealand to have achieved Environmental Choice accreditation.  That means they meet the most stringent global eco standards and are endorsed by the New Zealand Ministry for the Environment.

The B_E_E_ product range includes laundry liquid, laundry powder, delicate fabric wash, whitener, multi-surface cleaner and dishwash liquid. Behind every product is a commitment to ongoing performance improvement and reducing costs for the consumer. The laundry powder, for example has recently been modified to provide 40 washes per bottle – up from 22, while the liquid version now provides 15 washes, up from 10. Both products also feature new triple concentrate formulations to offer deeper cleaning performance.
