High-tech dentistry conference covers wide range of topics in Ljubljana
Earlier this month, Planmeca’s Slovenian distributor Dentalia organised a conference on high-tech dentistry together with the Slovenian Dental Chamber. Held in Slovenia’s lovely capital city, Ljubljana, the conference brought together 250 dental professionals from around the country to hear about the latest trends in the field.
Planmeca was heavily featured at the conference, with Dr. Dennis Rottke from Germany delivering a lecture on the necessity of CBCT imaging in implantology. He provided an overview of 3D imaging based on his personal experiences using the Planmeca ProMax® 3D Mid unit at his imaging centers in Germany – the Digital Diagnostic Centers in Freiburg and Karlsruhe.
Dr. Rottke pointed out that CBCT technology is not only important for implant planning, but also several other specialties, such as periodontics, endodontics and sinus evaluations. He emphasised that CBCT units enable imaging at a much lower effective patient dose than conventional CT units. He also pointed out that it is very important to choose a device that prevents artefacts, as this is integral to high-quality images.
Planmeca Sovereign® Classic and Planmeca Compact™ i Touch dental units were also on display at the exhibition, drawing great interest from visitors. With their modern design and excellent ergonomics, these units appealed to dental professionals of all backgrounds.
Combining technology and education
With digital dentistry becoming increasingly common, it is important to understand how to make the most of the opportunities it presents. Digital technology provides an excellent return on investment, but needs to be efficiently implemented.
Training and education play a key role in unlocking the full potential of new dental innovations. The Nordic Institute of Dental Education (NIDE) was introduced to visitors in Ljubljana, drawing much interest.
NIDE is a joint venture of Planmeca and the University of Turku. It offers a wide range of CE courses in Finland on various digital dentistry topics. All courses are taught in English by leading experts in their fields.
The Nordic Institute of Dental Education provides an intriguing blend of theoretical and practical perspectives, complemented by fun activities outside the classroom. With its guidance, dental professionals are well equipped for what the future of dentistry has in store.
