Part of being a leader and innovator is working to help improve the field in which you work. When the Pankey Institute, a leader in dental education and research, was seeking to update and renovate their facility, improve learning, diagnosis, streamline work process and advance the visitor experience they researched many companies.

After many visits, consults and “fit” discussions, the Pankey Institute selected Planmeca as their imaging system and CAD/CAM equipment partner. In this role, Planmeca’s imaging and restorative solutions will be front and center of all training programs. In addition, Planmeca will provide technical support and have the benefit of feedback regarding the operation of their systems.

The Pankey Institute’s goal when starting this project was to transform a section of their training facility into an all-new destination experience for relationship-driven dentists. These clinicians seek to achieve excellence in all aspects of clinical dentistry, practice success, and personal satisfaction. Ultimately, The Pankey Institute made a $2 million investment to add a new teaching laboratory, clinic, lecture halls and unique on-premise suites for an “in residence” dental continuing education experience.

Renovations to the third floor are highlighted by an all-new, state-of-the-art clinic and teaching lab, as well as Becker Hall, dedicated in honor of Dr. Irwin Becker, a former chairman of Pankey’s Department of Education. “We are particularly excited about our new advanced digital learning space, developed in partnership with Planmeca,” said Dr. Richard Hunt, chairman of the Pankey Institute Board. Ed McDonough, president, Planmeca USA added: “we are thrilled to provide our complete digital office solution including imaging, CAD/CAM systems and Romexis software suite, creating a comprehensive digital learning center where clinicians can experience and learn advanced digital techniques.” McDonough credited Bill Steinitz, Eastern Regional Sales Manager, and his team for working closely with Pankey on the expansion.

“These dramatic improvements to the facility, new technology and ability to reside in luxury accommodations onsite perfectly supports the small group, deeply individualized learning approach that is unique to Pankey,” said Dr. Lee Ann Brady, director of Education at Pankey.

While we are certainly pleased that the Pankey Institute selected Planmeca imaging, software, and CAD/CAM systems to enhance their state-of-the-art facility, we are especially gratified that we are helping to lead the conversion to digital dentistry and help train and advance dental industry education and research.
