The Embassy of Canada and CollegeWeekLive Collaborate to Host Live Online Video Event Showcasing Higher Education Opportunities in Canada at www.CollegeWeekLive.com

CollegeWeekLiveä, the channel where students and colleges meet live online, today announced it is collaborating with the Embassy of Canada, or Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, to host Study in Canada Day, a free virtual college admissions event on Wednesday February 27th from 2:00 to 10:00 PM Eastern time. The live online event, which showcases twelve colleges in five provinces across Canada, will demonstrate that Canadian universities offer a quality education at an affordable cost---right across the border.

The number of  U.S. students studying in Canada has grown approximately 50 percent since 2000, according to the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. Many of Canada’s universities are respected academically and college there may cost less on average. For example, annual tuition cost for an international student attending college in Canada ranges between $4,050 to $25,820, according to the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada[1], while the average 2012-13 tuition cost in the United States is $22,261, according to the College Board[2]. Room and board costs may be also lower at a Canadian university.

This virtual event will demonstrate the breadth and depth of academic opportunities for U.S students considering college in Canada, and will share the cultural appeal of a college experience in Canada. According to UNESCO, Canada is the second most popular destination for American students after the U.K. Students who log in and attend will be able text and video chat with college admissions representatives and current students at the following universities:

Acadia University

Brock University

Carleton University

Dalhousie University

Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Queen's University

Ryerson University

St. Thomas University

University of Alberta

University of British Columbia

University of Guelph

University of Toronto

“With Study in Canada Day at CollegeWeekLive, our goal is to give high school students in the U.S. and their families an opportunity to learn more about the quality and value of higher education in Canada today.
