Combined capabilities first to enable customers to encrypt e-mail information on multiple wireless devices.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 8, 2005 – Pointsec, the global leader and the provider of the de facto standard for enterprise security software for laptop and desktop PCs, PDAs and smartphones, and Smartner, the provider of leading Push e-mail solutions for standard mobile devices, today announced a secure Push e-mail solution for a wide range of smartphones and wireless devices. The solution, a combination of the Smartner Always-on Mail and Pointsec end-point protection software, enables large organizations and enterprises to deploy secure push e-mail to any popular wireless platform while maintaining centralized administration of their global user networks. Employees are demanding access to their corporate e-mail accounts from anywhere at any time, and Push e-mail enables them to access e-mail and personal information from their wireless devices. This meets their mobility needs and increases overall productivity. Secure e-mail trans¬mission is also a number one priority for enterprises, and the Smartner-Pointsec solution enables AES 128-bit encryption of e-mail information. By joining forces, Pointsec and Smartner are now able to offer large organizations a new level of security that encrypts all data in the mobile device, protecting sensitive information even if the device is lost or stolen. "The value of business mobility is growing rapidly as mobile devices become more powerful, networks transfer more data, and superior usability is no longer traded-off for higher security," said Panu Kuusisto, director of Alliance Development at Nokia. "This collaboration between Smartner and Pointsec will increase the secure functionality of mobile e-mail, making it easier for companies to deploy and reap the benefits of mobility." Pointsec’s FIPS-certified encryption software ensures that all or selected parts of a mobile device’s data can be encrypted in real time and can only be accessed by an authenticated user. Its exclusive “on-the-fly” encryption method ensures that encryption is performed according to an organization’s security policies without requiring action on the part of end users and results in virtually no perform¬ance difference for the device. When used in tandem with Smartner’s Always-On Mail Enterprise Edition, large organizations with mobile workforces can be assured that e-mail stored on lost or stolen mobile devices can not be accessed by unauthorized users. “Pointsec was our obvious choice for an endpoint protection partner since they offer the most widely deployed multi-platform mobile encryption solution,” said Ari Backholm, Executive Vice President for Products and Marketing at Smartner. “Our trials have confirmed that Pointsec is the only company that has effectively addressed usability without sacrificing protection. Its ‘on-the-fly’ encryption technology offers a secure Push e-mail experience that no other supplier can match.” The Smartner-Pointsec solution enables IT departments to create and enforce mandatory access control for their corporate users, configuring any details of each mobile login option. At the user level, all and any information in a mobile device’s main memory is automatically encrypted as it is saved. In addition, customers can now accept or reject the use of unencrypted removable media thus cutting off another route for security breaches. These features are fully interoperable with Smartner’s Always-on Mail Enterprise Edition version 5.0, which is available immediately for mobile devices using both the Symbian and Windows operating systems. “Smartner’s push e-mail solution has been extremely successful due to its functionality and usability for both end users and IT administrators,” said Peter Larsson, CEO of Pointsec. “Our partnership will allow customers to take advantage of this smart solution knowing that their e-mail information is protected if their devices are ever lost or stolen.” For further information please contact: Peter Larsson, CEO, Pointsec tel: +1 708-479-3488 / +1 708-954-6986, e-mail: peter.larsson@pointsec.com Arlinda Sipila, Marketing Manager, Smartner tel: +358 40 528 86 51, e-mail: arlinda.sipila@smartner.com
