The Dutch trend of hand-cut premium fries has now landed in Stockholm in a new Nordic-international style. The restaurant, Pom Friterie, bases it offering on fresh French fries of the highest quality, which are served with fizzy cocktails in contemporary designed premises.

Pom Friterie has taken its inspiration from Dutch street food that has served fries for over a hundred years. The concept has now been further developed in Stockholm, which is reflected in everything from the menu and the bar to the interior design. The carefully selected potatoes are, however, brought from the country of origin, the Netherlands, and are grown sustainably by a small-scale farmer on the coast of the North Sea.

– With Pom Friterie, we want to create something completely new in the restaurant world. It should feel easy to visit us while the quality of our fries sets the standard for everything we do, says Jorit Gras, co-founder and creative director at Pom Friterie. The feel of the premises that sets the tone is raw Nordic, but the ambience is at the same time warm and inviting.

The main menu is based on "topped frites" with flavors from all over the world, from the northern coast of Sweden to Morocco and Japan. The restaurant also serves crispy bites with a variety of fillings as well as small dishes such as oysters, raw beef, pickles and a dozen or so dipping sauces. Several of the dishes and sauces are based on seasonal ingredients.

The drinks list mainly consists of original, carbonated cocktails that are mixed using premium spirits. A few examples are their rum-based Mint & Coconut, their bourbon Honey & Chamomile drink, and their gin-based Jasmine & Makrut. Pom Friterie celebrates its Dutch heritage through electronic music with DJs working it at the weekends.

The restaurant and bar – designed by the architecture firm Koncept – is located on Lästmakargatan 26 in central Stockholm. Bar manager Marvin Romein and menu designer, food photographer and chef Jorit Gras, both hailing from the Netherlands, are behind the initiative.
