In acknowledgement of Itella’s investment achievements in Poland, Itella Information received the ABSL Excellence Award in the “New Business Services Investment of the Year” competition. The winners were announced during the 3rd ABSL Annual Conference in Sopot on September 10–11.

The Association of Business Service Leaders in Poland (ABSL) is a leading organization with over 50 members including Itella Information and foreign and Polish investors active in Shared Services Centres, Business Process Outsourcing, Information Technology Outsourcing and Research and Development.

One of the biggest outsourcing events in Poland, the 2012 ABSL Conference brought together over 200 representatives of shared services centres, vendors, state authorities and media, and also included a number of topical panel discussions. The event focused on the lifecycle of business services centres and offered a thorough analysis of the global offshoring and outsourcing sector in Poland from this perspective. The companies investing in these fields were acknowledged for their efforts, on the first day of the conference.

Itella’s business practices and the bold and unique concept of its Toruń Centre secured it the ABSL Excellence Award, as the jury noted. The Toruń Centre incorporates a Tier 3 data centre connecting four functions: a shared services centre for the Itella Group, nearshoring for customer operations in the Scandinavian countries and Germany, business process outsourcing capabilities for Polish customers, especially in finance and accounting, and IT competence centre operations.

Itella’s investment was considered the most agile, due to its capability of “delivering business benefits at all levels” in the planning, migration, stabilization and run phases, and when assisting customers in the adoption of optimized financial processes. The general evaluation was based on criteria such as approach during set up of the company (scope of services, mechanisms used for start-up and for securing the outcome), successfully transitioned services (customer cases showing tangible return on investment and other key performance indicators), project particularities and differentiators, and the ability to set standards for industry best practice.

“In Toruń, dozens of specialists offer support at the global service desk, in e-services and finance and accounting application management, and in F&A technical customer implementation. The results clearly support the investment decision: Toruń offers great investment opportunities that are comparable to locations already established in our segment. We have skilled professionals committed to delivering valuable services to our customers in an innovative business set-up,” says Miikka Savolainen, Managing Director of Itella Information Sp. z o.o.

Itella Information is part of a business sector employing over 85,000 specialists in Poland. Itella’s Toruń Centre became operational in 2011 and currently employs over 130 specialists. The recruitment process is still ongoing, as the centre is subject to further investment in various areas of expertise. From a global point of view, the centre also presents excellent opportunities to develop financial processes infrastructure throughout Europe, especially for the e-services and F&A segments.
