The Swedish Competition Authority has decided not to review PostNord’s takeover of Svensk Morgondistribution from Mittmedia and Västerbottens-Kuriren. Accordingly, the parties can now finalize the transaction by Juni 1, as planned.

On April 19, 2012 PostNord’s wholly-owned subsidiary Tidningstjänst AB announced its signing of an agreement for the takeover of Svensk Morgondistribution KB operations from the media groups MittMedia and Västerbottens-Kuriren. The agreement between PostNord and Mittmedia and Västerbottens-Kuriren covers distribution of the media group’s morning newspapers over several years.

The takeover of Svensk Morgondistribution is fully in line with PostNord’s strategy to develop profitable new businesses that support the mail businesses, where the group is establishing new fields of application for existing production resources. Increasing the utilization of the group’s vehicle fleet generates additional business opportunities in areas including morning newspaper distribution and home deliveries.
