Top ranking for PostNord’s climate work – again
For the third year in a row, PostNord’s qualitative climate efforts is ranked as one of the best in the industry by IPC, the industry association representing the world’s leading postal operators.
IPC – the International Post Corporation – has establised the environmental goal of reducing the industry’s carbon emissions by 20 per cent between 2008 and 2020. To achieve that goal, every company in the industry will have to make extensive adjustments. PostNord aims to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent between 2009 and 2020.
To measure progress in climate work, IPC ranks postal operators in terms of development and improvement in their qualitative climate efforts. IPC’s assessment is based on the processes that each operator uses in its climate work, how well embedded environmental work is in the operator’s management organization and how transparently the operator reports its sustainability figures both from the organization itself and from sub-contractors.
For the third year in a row, IPC ranks PostNord as third in the industry.
“It’s very satisfying once again to be placed in the top three in the IPC ranking. Climate work is important to us. We’re working systematically on a series of initiatives in the environmental sector. These include tests on and investments in electric cars and trucks powered by alternative fuels. Being ranked again as one of the best postal operators in the world in this sector is one recognition of our efforts,” says Erica Kronhöffer, Director Environment & TQM, PostNord.
