Nordic leading fuel cell company PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) will be present at the upcoming AfricaCom exhibition at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa on November 17 - 19, 2015, to showcase their PowerPac for telecom applications.

PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) is the leading fuel cell company in the Nordics, which develops and produces environmentally friendly power systems for stationary and mobile customer applications. PowerCell has developed a modular system of fuel cell platforms producing electricity from hydrogen with only, heat and water as emissions. The fuel cells are designed to handle the hydrogen reformed from biogas, natural gas, biodiesel or standard diesel.

Where hydrogen infrastructure is missing, PowerCell has combined its leading fuel cell and reformer technology and developed a fuel cell system, the PowerPac, which converts standard diesel into a hydrogen-rich gas and then electricity. This is done in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly way, in which emissions of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and particles are completely eliminated and the carbon dioxide is greatly reduced compared with a conventional diesel engine. The PowerPac, is ideal to power no- or bad-grid telecom situations, for example cellular telecom towers.

PowerPac comes into production in 2017. PowerCell is now introducing it to the African telecommunications community. Already there has been strong interest expressed by telecom and engineering companies in South Africa.

AfricaCom is the biggest annual technology event in Africa with an emphasis on telecommunications and is attended by thousands of senior decision-makers in management and engineering in business, research, government and finance from the global digital ecosystem.

Andreas Bodén, Director of Marketing and Sales at PowerCell Sweden said: "The earliest prototype of the PowerPac was deployed in 2014 for testing in South Africa, and we are as we speak shipping our next-generation prototype for continued testing in preparation for deployment in Africa. We are pleased to present PowerCell Sweden and the PowerPac at the AfricaCom 2015 in Cape Town".
