Offering the industry’s highest levels of power and efficiency, the MCPA is capable of handling multiple protocols including GSM/EDGE and W-CDMA

CTIA Wireless 2005, NEW ORLEANS, Booth #2644 – March 15, 2005 - Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a leading global source for end-to-end wireless infrastructure solutions, introduced its next-generation 1900 MHz multi-carrier power amplifier (MCPA) today here at CTIA Wireless 2005, the industry’s premier wireless conference and exposition, taking place March 14-16. This latest addition to Powerwave’s family of high-performance, low-cost and high-capacity solutions for wireless network operators builds upon the success of Powerwave’s standardized platform MCPAs, yielding one of the industry’s highest levels of both power and efficiency, with a power output of 180 Watts and a 50 percent improvement in efficiency from the previous generation. The MCPA supports multiple wireless protocols and provides a clean migration path from GSM/EDGE to W-CDMA, eliminating the need for amplifier modifications or upgrades. “Our next-generation MCPA is an excellent example of Powerwave’s commitment to providing innovative coverage and capacity solutions that meet the requirements for high performance in today’s wireless networks,” said Ronald Buschur, President and Chief Executive Officer, Powerwave Technologies. “Combining increased power output and efficiency with low cost, our MCPA provides network operators with a complete coverage and capacity solution that promotes the most efficient use of critical network infrastructure resources.” Powerwave’s next-generation MCPA was developed using a modular platform approach that supports multiple configurations and meets a variety of coverage requirements in both indoor and outdoor environments. The modularity of Powerwave’s MCPA also reduces time-to-market, enables the development of smaller and more efficient systems, and provides scalability to support future coverage and capacity requirements.
