Precise Biometrics introduces first multibiometric verification station
Precise Biometrics AB and Gunnebo Entrance Control are showing the next generation of electronic border control with biometrics at the IFSEC trade show in Birmingham, May 16-19. Gunnebo Entrance Control and Precise Biometrics are demonstrating at this exhibition a multibiometric verification system developed on a non-exclusive basis by Precise Biometrics for use in electronic border-control applications. The system is able to read and validate the holder of the new electronic passports in accordance with standards now being introduced in many countries around the world.
The unit has been developed as part of Gunnebo Entrance Control's automated immigration concept, ImmSec. The verification demonstrator optionally takes the facial, fingerprint or iris information stored in a contactless ePassport and verifies against the person standing in the gate. Gunnebo Entrance Control's system ensures there is only one person in the gate and the Precise Biometrics' subsystem verifies the identity of that person against the contactless passport presented to the system. The stand at IFSEC also shows a live capture station of the acquisition of the biometric data and the storage into an ePassport in accordance with the specifications of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). "The market demands both multiple biometric data in ePassports and the infrastructure to read and validate this data," says Christer Bergman, President & CEO of Precise Biometrics. "Gunnebo Entrance Control is one of the world's leading specialists in entrance control solutions and we are proud to be working with them on the infrastructure. During this year our range of products and integration services will be extended into the enrollment stations for biometrics as well as verification stations such as those presented at IFSEC." "Biometric technology is a viable way to automate and secure the personal passage through our gates in line with ICAO recommendations", adds Airport Business Development Manager Mark Geering of Gunnebo Entrance Control. "Our range of ImmSec gates are designed to make use of the new ePassports or other electronic ID cards containing biometrics as in Simplified Passenger Travel schemes. We are delighted to work with Precise Biometrics on this specific exhibition for the IFSEC trade fair."
