Drive on agricultural scrap takes to the road

As part of its commitment to helping UK agriculture to dispose of its plastic waste in a greener, more efficient way, Europe’s largest polythene recycler is taking to the road. bpi.recycled products - which currently reprocesses over 70,000 tonnes of waste each year, including large amounts of agricultural material such as used balewrap, polytunnels and crop covers - plans to attend a number of pending agricultural events in order to spread the word about its unique offer and capabilities. The business’ tour will start with an appearance at The British Potato Exhibition, taking place on the 25th and 26th November at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate. Staff from bpi.recycled products will be waiting on the firm’s stand (Stand No 148, Hall 1) to tell people about how it uses their waste to produce greener recycled items. In marked contrast to most recycling activity, which actually happens abroad particularly in the Far East, bpi.recycled products insists on reprocessing only UK waste at its network of UK facilities - all of which benefit from full Environment Agency accreditation. As a result, the products it creates from recycled agricultural scrap not only play an important part in diverting waste from landfill, they also offer the green advantage of incredibly low product miles and a small carbon footprint. Specific items manufactured by the business using waste farm and horticultural plastics as a raw material include outdoor furniture, hard landscaping products, building supplies and refuse sacks. Commenting on the eco-conscious business’ plans, Guy Coates, Marketing Director from bpi.recycled products, said: “Most farmers and growers want to do the right thing by the environment but for many of us it’s not always obvious what that is. Green issues are increasingly surrounded by so much debate and counter-debate that it’s difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction. “That’s why we’ve decided to take our message out on the road. It allows us to explain certain issues to people face to face, which is always the best way. It also clearly demonstrates the strength of our commitment.” ENDS Images & captions: Green Sack New.jpg Coming to a venue near you. bpi.recycled products, which manufactures products like this Green Sack from recycled agricultural waste, plans to take its message to farmers and growers out on the road.
