Green Sack scoops gold

Since their introduction the Green Sack® range of 100% recycled refuse sacks has gained firm favour with most of the major names in the facilities management and cleaning industries. Now it seems their popularity has spread even further afield with the products recently scooping an award - in the marketing sector. A bold rebrand of the range, undertaken by manufacturer bpi.recycled products and its design agency, ND Creative, led to a trophy for Best Marketing Innovation at the 2009 Northern Marketing Awards. Supported by the Chartered Institute of Marketing and this year held in late November at the Gosforth Marriot Hotel in Newcastle, the glittering and now annual event aims to celebrate excellence in the North of England’s marketing and communications industries. The rebranding of the Green Sack® acknowledged by the award not only saw the creation of a whole new look for the range, but the delivery of a complete campaign designed to raise awareness of its greener nature. As well as being made 100% from recycled waste plastic helping to reduce landfill, Green Sacks are reprocessed entirely at UK facilities, using only UK waste. This remarkable feature gives them a carbon footprint much smaller than most other 100% recycled refuse sacks which are largely produced in the Far East. Commenting on the awards success, Guy Coates, Marketing Director from bpi.recycled products, said: “You might think winning a marketing award means being involved with a glamorous FMCG product, but our success certainly makes you question that. We see our achievement as recognition of the fact that great marketing is great marketing, no matter what the sector. “Our success is made all the sweeter because the entire campaign was actually instigated as part of our commitment to our customers – to give them the added value of either supplying or using a recognised brand. “The real winner here though is ND Creative. We couldn’t have done it without their advice, ideas and expert delivery. They deserve the lion’s share of the glory.” ND Creative was also a shortlisted contender in the Most Effective Re-brand category at the awards.
