OHSAS 18001 for bpi.recycled products
bpi.recycled products has added to its growing list of internationally recognised accreditations. The business has just been awarded OHSAS 18001:2007 certification for operations at its Rhymney site which produces building films sold under the Visqueen Building Products brand name. Jointly developed by some of the world’s leading standards and certification bodies, OHSAS 18001:2007 sets out to promote safe and healthy working environments. It provides a framework which helps organisations to identify and control their health and safety risks, to reduce their potential for accidents, to comply with legislation and to improve their overall performance. It is also designed to be fully compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and allows organisations to fully integrate their quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems. In order to achieve OHSAS 18001, bpi.recycled products had to demonstrate robust systems, standards and procedures covering everything from hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control through to staff training and performance measuring and improvement. It already holds ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 9001:2008 for operations at Rhymney and a number of its other UK-wide sites.
