For anyone attending this year’s Fruit Focus show, a visit to bpi.visqueen’s stand (stand 16) looks set to be a must. At the one day trade event, which takes place on the 22nd July at the East Malling Research Centre in Kent, the leading manufacturer of horticultural films intends to showcase its ability to help growers create their own ‘climate of success’.

Specifically, the business, which now ranks as the only large-scale producer of horticultural films in the UK, will promote its Luminance THB product. This uniquely formulated film, which is available through Haygrove Polytunnels, is highly popular with soft fruit growers and with strawberry producers in particular. Able to minimise infra red radiation, enhance useful light in the PAR range and reduce greenhouse temperature, Luminance THB’s effectiveness when used in conjunction with strawberries has been shown again and again, with it delivering exceptional results both in practice and in scientific studies conducted by bpi.visqueen research partners, the University of Lancaster and Reading University. Members of bpi.visqueen’s horticultural team will also be available to tell visitors to the manufacturer’s stand about some of the other innovative products it offers. This includes its Lo-Vis range which has been specially created for use in areas where the visual impact of polytunnels needs to be minimised, such as near national parks or areas of outstanding beauty. Lo-Vis products employ a proprietary green film which enables polytunnels to blend more effectively into the surrounding vernacular but without significantly affecting light transmission and in turn, yields. Other products set to be placed under the spotlight will include bpi.visqueen’s range of dynamic, high performance greenhouse films. Speaking of the manufacturer’s plans for Fruit Focus, Roy McAdoo, Commercial Director at bpi.visqueen said: “bpi.visqueen doesn’t sell direct to the end-user so events like Fruit Focus are particularly important to us. They allow us to spend valuable face to face time with growers, listening both to their feedback and to the challenges they face. This information is instrumental in helping us to develop products - whether that’s field tunnel films, greenhouse films or low tunnels - that best meet their needs.” -ENDS- Image: bpi visqueen strawberries.jpg Caption: Rich pickings. bpi.visqueen will be waiting to tell people about its productivity enhancing horticultural films, such as Luminance THB, at this year’s Fruit Focus.
