Pulling the pieces together

bpi.films – the UK’s leading manufacturer of polythene films for industrial applications such as pallet stretchwrapping – has drawn on its extensive expertise to develop two new products specifically for the waste management sector. Securap and Securap+ both aim to offer a greener, more business efficient alternative to those organisations involved in baling all manner of fragmented or loose waste, ranging from shredded paper and woodchip through to used plastic and cardboard. Securap, which enjoys the combined benefits of a light weight and a high strength, is designed for use alongside waste compacting and baling machinery where its exceptional stretch can help to compress some materials down to a third of their original volume. Contributing to denser bales, it allows users to maximise storage space and perhaps even more importantly, to better utilise space on transport vehicles. This enables a greater volume of waste to be moved with fewer journeys leading to a reduction in associated costs and vehicle emissions. In addition, further environmental advantages stem from the fact that Securap is 100% recyclable. It is also ideal for use on waste destined for incineration. As it’s made from polythene, an oil based substance, Securap has a high energy content and an impressive calorific value. Other benefits offered by Securap beyond its strong green credentials include the inclusion of in-built adhesive qualities on both sides of the film. This ‘two-sided tack’ ensures each layer of film sticks to the layer next to it as the baled waste is wrapped. The net result is an improved seal that keeps the enclosed material dry, prevents seepages and that reduces oxygen permeability reducing waste deterioration and subsequent odours. Securap+ meanwhile has been launched to complement the already impressive performance of its sister product. An innovative binding solution which is applied underneath Securap, it contributes to an even greater seal and enhanced levels of compaction. It also helps bales to retain their cylindrical shape more effectively making them easier to handle, stack and store. Like Securap, Securap+ is 100% recyclable and suited to incineration as both films are actually produced from the same material. This use of the same material also eliminates the need to segregate the two products after use as both items can be disposed of together, saving time and labour. Commenting on the launch of the two new solutions for the waste management sector, Louise Aplin, Marketing Manager at bpi.films, said: “bpi.films’ considerable experience, advanced manufacturing technology and commitment to the highest levels of quality has already been employed to deliver products in sectors as diverse as warehousing and distribution through to manufacturing. Now, we’re making the same capabilities available to those in the waste management sector. “Securap and Securap+ continue bpi.films’ track record of helping customers to improve their operational efficiency whilst minimising their environmental impact. We’re confident both products will be well received.” - ENDS - IMAGES: Securap stored.jpg & Securap wrapping.jpg CAPTION: Creating better baled waste. bpi.films, a leading manufacturer of polythene films, has launched two new products that enable waste to be baled in a greener, more business efficient way
