Counter Measure: Precision’s new range offers choice of depth, height and width

10,000 counter refrigeration variants add up to truly flexible choice

Precision has relaunched its range of counters, with a whole new designer look on the outside and an upgraded, energy-efficient controller within. The counters also feature a new internal airflow system that maintains constant temperature control throughout the counter, regardless of the way product is loaded.

The new range comes in a choice of different depths and heights, and two-, three- or four-doors, plus a huge variety of options. Precision claims it is the most flexible range of counters on the market, with some 10,000 possible ‘standard’ product configurations.

The counters also offer very low running costs. For example, the 670mm wide two-door refrigerated counter (model MCU 211) could cost as little as £98 a year to run under moderate usage. Energy saving features include the new iCool controller, which, unlike standard ‘smart’ controllers, actually learns how the cabinet is being used – the number of door openings during specific periods and so on – and uses that information to predict likely conditions, adjusting its parameters accordingly so as to run as efficiently as possible. Other energy-saving features include extra-thick insulation on drawers and doors and EC evaporator fans, which use 30% less energy than conventional AC versions.

The attractive design includes simple lines, flush handles, minimalist grill and an oversize LCD screen. However, such features are not merely about looks: for example, the grill is designed to both enhance airflow and ensure spills can’t drop in to the system, while the LCD has simple controls – on/off, and temperature up or down – making it easy to monitor and very user-friendly.

The counters are available with left- or right-sided refrigeration systems, or for connection to remote systems. The front-breathing and venting design means the counters can be completely built-in, with no need for ventilation to the side or rear.

Standard features include all-stainless steel construction, energy-optimised defrost and 43°C ambient rated operation. The anti-drip worktop ensures spills don’t drip under the worktop or onto the floor. The extensive list of options includes drawers, countertop wells, raised pan wells, over-shelves and gantries.

The counters use Precision’s Envirofoam insulation, which is based on vegetable oils, has zero ODP and ultra-low GWP. Environment-friendly refrigerant options include HFO-based systems, which are safer and ‘greener’ than both conventional gasses and their hydrocarbon counterparts.

List prices for the MCU 211 start from £2,520.
