Precision’s mini prep counter fits where space is at a premium

As kitchen space gets squashed, chefs are looking for equipment that can fit in the smallest of spaces and still do the job. British manufacturer Precision has developed a mini prep counter that, despite having a footprint of less than one square metre, with doors closed, still has room for a worktop, six ingredients wells and 340 litres of cabinet storage space. Plus, its refrigeration will keep chilling even in busy kitchens with ambient temperatures up to 43°C.

The mini prep counter, model HSS 340, is part of Precision’s Space Saver range. As with all Precision designs, it features stainless steel construction throughout. Its iCool controller minimises energy use by learning how the cabinet is being used – the number of door openings during specific periods and so on. It uses this information intelligently, to forecast likely conditions and run as efficiently as possible.

The pan well mounted into the back of the worktop accepts six GN 1/3 pans and has an insulated lid that can be closed to minimise energy consumption and maintain safe food storage for longer. The design of the well means that chefs can choose to use different sized containers – from two GN 1/1 to 18 GN 1/9 pans – or a combination of different sizes.

The attractive design is enhanced by Precision’s oversize LCD control panel, which is easy to monitor and very user friendly, and the stylish grill, with its clever airflow design that allows the system to operate at lower temperatures, reducing energy consumption and extending the service life.

The front-venting refrigeration system means the unit can be slotted into the tightest of spaces. The adjustable, levelling feet are fitted with rollers so the unit is easy to move for cleaning. Defrost is automatic and the energy-saving waste heat vaporiser system eliminates the need for a drain.

A wide range of options includes drawers instead of doors as well as hydrocarbon or HFO refrigerants.

The Space Saver prep counter measures 1220mm wide by 915mm high by 745mm deep. With doors open the depth is 1275mm. Available through Precision’s distributor network, it has a list price of £3,049.
