BPI APPOINTS NEW SITE DIRECTOR AT GREENOCK
BPI (British Polythene Industries plc) has appointed a new site director at its Greenock production facility. Paul Rampling takes up the post from the 1stAugust 2011 replacing outgoing site director Johnstone Smith who moves to the Ardeer facility in Ayrshire.
Paul, who began working for BPI in 1999, graduated with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from Exeter University. Having joined BPI’s graduate scheme, Paul initially worked on films for hygiene critical applications such as food packaging. He then progressed through numerous positions, including process technologist where he was heavily involved in managing BPI’s stringent quality assurance systems.
Prior to his appointment, Paul worked in BPI’s North Wales site as site director where he was responsible for the manufacturing of products for the medical, pharmaceutical and food industries. This included products for treating gunshot wounds and BLiSP – a life support pouch which can dramatically improve the survival chances of premature babies.
As site director at Greenock, Paul will now oversee the production of polythene films for the construction, janitorial, packaging and horticultural sectors.
Speaking of his appointment, Paul said: “As Europe’s largest manufacturer of polythene films, bags and sacks, BPI produces products used everyday – by everyone. As a testament to its progressive approach and its commitment to the highest levels of sustainability, it also ranks as Europe’s largest polythene waste recycler, recycling over 68,000 tonnes of waste per annum.
“During my 12 years with the company, I’ve been fortunate enough to work across many different areas of the business. I’m now looking forward to building on that as the site director at Greenock.”
Alan Harris, Business Director at BPI Greenock, added: “Throughout his career at BPI, Paul has made an invaluable contribution to the company and been promoted accordingly. We’re delighted to be welcoming him to the Greenock site. Johnstone’s departure will leave a considerable gap, but we’re confident Paul has the skill, expertise and ambition to fill it.”
