BPI Greenock – ‘Best of the Best’
British Polythene Industries’ Greenock site recently picked up two high profile awards at the Greenock Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Awards Dinner. Having won the ’Best Business>25’ category (for companies employing over 25 people) BPI Greenock then went on to scoop the ‘Best of the Best’ Award – the final accolade of the evening presented to the business selected as overall business champion.
As part of British Polythene Industries, Europe’s largest manufacturer and largest recycler of polyethylene films, the Greenock site produces a diverse range of films that span the horticultural, construction and packaging sectors.
Now in its 8thyear the ‘Bees Knees’ Awards initiative showcases the diversity and talent of the Inverclyde business community. The judging process called for BPI Greenock to demonstrate: best practice across the board, innovation in product development and adaptability in a rapidly changing business environment.
In competing for the Award the team from BPI Greenock outlined its environmental management practices, explained how it uses the latest manufacturing technologies and advancing raw materials to develop superior film products and highlighted the key role the Greenock site plays in the UK’s first fully closed loop farm plastics recycling scheme.
Receiving both awards on behalf of BPI Greenock, Johnstone Smith, Operations Director, said: “These awards recognise the outstanding teamwork and effort of all at Greenock.” He continued: “They are a great endorsement of the innovative flair and creative thinking that has allowed the Greenock site to provide customers with high performing, high quality products.”
