BPI.VISQUEEN ENJOYS SUCCESS AT SALON DU VÉGÉTAL
bpi.visqueen – the leading manufacturer of horticultural films – has recently enjoyed a highly successful appearance at Salon du Végétal. The trade show, which ran from 15-17 February 2011 in Angers, France, has become a major event in the European horticultural calendar and attracts commercial growers, wholesalers and retailers from all over the continent.
The manufacturer appeared at the show on the Commercial Horticultural Association (CHA) stand, along with French distributor PLASTIDIS, where it experienced high levels of interest in its extensive range of next generation horticultural films.
In particular, visitors were keen to find out more about the manufacturer’s growing selection of smart films, which are able to greatly enhance both crop quality and yield by actively managing ambient light and temperature across a variety of climatic conditions.
During the show staff on the bpi.visqueen stand were also visited by Oscar Stapel. A director at the horticultural experiment station STEPP Bretagne in Brittany, which is involved in testing new bpi.visqueen film products, Mr Stapel was at the exhibition to deliver a detailed presentation concerning his research.
This research included findings on the benefits of using light filters to regulate crop growth and entailed the use of bpi.visqueen’s Solatrol film - a product which helps to control plant height by increasing the amount of red to far red light plants receive. PLASTIDIS and STEPP have both been actively involved in the research of Solatrol since 2000.
Commenting on the success of the event, John Phoenix, Sales Director at bpi.visqueen, said: “The feedback from Salon du Végétal has been incredibly positive, and it seems that the majority of visitors were impressed by both our expertise and our dedication to on-going horticultural research. This was the first time bpi.visqueen has attended the event but we’re already planning to return next year.”
