New £multi-million farm waste plastic recycling facility unveiled

The farming industry’s ability to dispose of its polythene waste in a greener way is set to receive a welcome boost thanks to bpi.recycled products. The business - which already ranks as Europe’s largest polythene recycler recycling some 70,000 tonnes of material per annum – has just commissioned a brand new, state-of-the-art agricultural waste wash plant at its Rhymney factory in South Wales. Waste farm plastic continues to be a major problem for British farmers and growers with up to 80,000 tonnes of this material generated annually. Currently, there isn’t sufficient capacity in the UK

PRIZE DRAW SUCCESS FOR POWYS FARMER

Michael Evans, a second generation hill farmer of Newtown, Powys is celebrating after scooping the first prize in a competition staged by used farm plastic collectors, Birch Farm Plastics. Birch ran the prize draw at a number of regional agricultural shows throughout the summer to mark the silver anniversary of the manufacture of balewrap by bpi.agri. It’s a wrap – Woodford Wins!

bpi.agri, leading manufacturer of silage stretchfilm and clamp sheeting, has revealed the winner of its Grassland & Muck Prize Draw for a free pallet of Silotite balewrap. The lucky winner is agricultural contractor Pete Thomas of RP Woodford Contracting in Rugby, Warwickshire.  Pete, who wraps as many as 5,000 silage bales per year for local farmers, was ecstatic with his prize which was delivered to him earlier this month.
