Preem and Norwegian Biozin in collaboration on more renewable fuels

Report this content

Preem and the Norwegian company Biozin AS have signed a cooperation agreement for large-scale production of biofuels with residues from the forest and wood industry. Initially, a new production plant will be built in Jordøya, Åmli municipality, Norway.

The planned production plant is estimated to produce approximately 120 000 cubic meters of biozin® per year. Biozin® is an advanced durable biooil with very good durability data that can be refined on Preemraff Lysekil or Gothenburg for renewable content in fuels. The planned production plant in Jordøya is expected to be operational in 2022.

The project has just completed a conceptual study where the factory's basic design has been established. Now the next step continues, including the production plant to be projected. The projection is expected to be completed by the end of 2019, and then the final investment decision will be taken.

Preem goes through the decision to continue the project, as a partner in Biozin Holding AS, investing approximately NOK 250 million to jointly work with Bergene Holm AS for the investment decision in early 2020. The total project is estimated at approximately 3.5 billions MNOK.

The company's common ambition is to establish more production facilities in southern Norway.
