- NATALIE IMBRUGLIA LIVE AT ASCOT - Australian actress turned singer, Natalie Imbruglia who releases her new single 'Beauty On The Fire' on July 15th, taken from the acclaimed album 'White Lilies Island', will headline the Blue Square Shergar Cup post- race party at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 10th August. Natalie, born in Sydney Australia, began her career as an actress starring in the evergreen soap opera, Neighbours. Soon to change roles from actress to pop star, she launched her musical career with the worldwide hit Torn and her two albums to date have also enjoyed global success. The latest, White Lilies Island, has provided two more Top Ten singles with That Day and Wrong Impression. The Blue Square Shergar Cup is Europe's only team competition in horseracing, where top jockeys from Great Britain and Ireland compete against an elite force from The Rest of the World in a six-race showdown. Jockeys in the GBI team take on the finest international riders, including jockeys from Italy, Japan, Australia and the USA. Last year the Rest of the World team, managed by Australian cricket legend Jeff Thomson and captained by Frankie Dettori, won the Blue Square Shergar Cup for the first time. They narrowly beat the Great Britain & Ireland team, managed by footballer turned Hollywood actor Vinnie Jones, with a thrilling 1-2-3 in the last race. The home team maintains a narrow advantage, leading 2-1 overall, and they are sure to be out for revenge in 2002! The event, sponsored by the leading interactive betting service Blue Square, has successfully combined top class horseracing and superb live music to make this a great day out that can be shared with friends, family or colleagues.
