DIARY NOTE-PRESS TRIP Fun Filled Ideas For Summer Weekends Wednesday 1 May to Friday 3 May Eurotunnel and the Belgian Tourist Office, Brussels and Wallonia cordially invite you to join a press trip to Belgium Ardennes. The summer holidays are on the horizon along with those endless weekends when parents rack their brains for something different to do. Join the trip with Eurotunnel and in less than an hour after leaving the Eurotunnel terminal in Folkestone, you can be in Belgium sampling a variety of child and adult friendly attractions that this region has to offer. The programme designed for all ages starts with a visit to the exotic Parc Paradisio in time for lunch. Situated between Lille and Brussels, Parc Paradisio's 55 hectares are a haven for more than 3000 birds living in specially adapted surroundings representing every location from the lushness of the tropics to swamps and deserts. There's a huge greenhouse which holds mammals and reptiles and a tropical island for a really hands on, Robinson Crusoe feel. With parrot houses, an orchid house and aquarium, there are plenty of attractions to keep the whole family amused. Dinner and your overnight stay will be in the beautifully converted forge, hotel Les Jardins de la Molignee situated on the banks of the river Molignee. Day two is one of contrasts starting off with a visit to the ancient caves of Han-sur-Lesse. Formed by the flowing waters of the river Lesse, they contain the most beautiful specimens of stalactites and stalagmites. (Can you remember which go up and which come down?) We resurface and after lunch, shoot into space with a visit to the Euro Space Centre. Share the astronauts experience on a space mission, learn about the space station Mir and feel the effects of being at the controls. The Euro Space Centre is truly interactive with over 1000 moving exhibits. Down to earth once more we make our way to the beautiful city of Dinant situated on the banks of the River Meuse. This picturesque city is dominated by craggy green cliffs that can be reached by cable car. Once on top there are the Souterroscope caves and Montfort children's playground to visit. We have dinner and stay overnight in one of Dinant's excellent hotels. For the quiz buffs amongst you Dinant's most famous son is Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. After checking out of our hotel the following morning, we make the short trip to Namur in the centre of Belgium Ardennes. There will be time for shopping in the old town centre, its cobbled streets crammed with shops, boutiques and pavement cafes. Before we leave this fascinating region we have lunch in the lovely city of Tournai. Boasting one of the most magnificent cathedrals in Belgium, it was the centre of the Frankish kingdom before Paris took on the role. Stocked up with local produce and of course delicious Belgian chocolates, we make the short journey back to Eurotunnel's Calais/Coquelles terminal, to take the next shuttle for home. Places are strictly limited. To attend please contact Barbara Cottage in the Eurotunnel Press Office on (01303) 288737 or (01303) 288728 or complete and fax back the form to (01303) 288731 Yes I would like to attend the Fun Filled Ideas for Summer Weekends press trip to Belgium Ardennes: Name ........................................................................ ....................................................
