Elton leads nominations at VH1 Fashion Awards 2002
ELTON LEADS NOMINATIONS AT VH1 FASHION AWARDS 2002 AWARDS TO BE HELD AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL IN NEW YORK ON TUESDAY 15TH OCTOBER London, 22 July, 2002. Superstar designers, models, rock stars and show business luminaries will get together to create an unsurpassed night of fashion, music and entertainment at the 2002 VH1 Fashion Awards. The show will be premiere exclusively on VH1 UK on a date to be announced shortly. The VH1 Fashion Awards, brings together designers, models, rock stars, movie stars and other celebrity dignitaries for one exciting night of fashion, music and entertainment in New York City - the heart of the fashion industry. Hosts and additional guests for this year's live awards ceremony will be announced as they are confirmed. Last year, Mariah Carey, Macy Gray, Sugar Ray, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and John Mellencamp were the featured musical performers, and Hilary Swank, Nelly Furtado, Moby, Mick Jagger, Gwen Stefani, Dylan McDermott, Salma Hayek, Angie Harmon, Jason Sehorn, Lil' Kim, P.Diddy, Renee Zellweger, Christian Slater, Gisele, Enrique Iglesias, Chris Noth, Courtney Love and Josh Hartnett made appearances at the event. The 2001 VH1 Fashion Awards gongs went to Moby (Visionary Video), Marc Jacobs (Designer of the Year), Stella Tennant (Model of the Year), John Galliano (Rebel Designer), "Sex and the City" (Best Dressed TV Show), Renee Zellweger (Red Carpet), Jim Carrey (Leading Man), Destiny's Child (Outrageous Group), P.Diddy (Sharp Dressed Man), Gwen Stefani (Rock Style) and Josh Hartnett (Newcomer Award). The nominees for the VH1 Fashion Awardsare determined by the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards Style Council, an exclusive committee of top fashion editors, journalists, curators, stylists, designers, photographers and models assembled by VH1 and Vogue. Viewers can make their voices heard by casting votes online at VH1.co.uk for the Visionary Video award. The first round of voting to choose finalists begins July 22, and voting for finalists begins on August 18. The Visionary Video poll will close September 4.
