Norwood Systems announces the provision of value-added network services for mobile operators, at 3GSM World Congress 19 - 22 February 2002 Stand Number: Hall 4 Stand K3 Richmond-upon-Thames, UK - 15th February 2002 - Norwood Systems, developer of office networks for the wireless generation, will be demonstrating their award-winning wireless office software communication platform, EnterpriseMobilitytm at the 3GSM World Congress. EnterpriseMobility is a short-range wireless communication platform that enables mobile operators to offer enhanced in-building services to their corporate customer base. Leveraging Bluetoothtm technology, EnterpriseMobility connects employees wirelessly to their voice and data networks when in the office. This will be the first carrier-ready Bluetooth platform that enables mobile operators to offer short-range wireless solutions to attract high value corporate subscribers, increase Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), reduce customer churn and decrease new subscriber acquisition costs. The solution offered by Norwood Systems complements 2G or 3G networks by providing Bluetooth enabled wireless in-building coverage, delivering connectivity and enhanced productivity to corporate end-users everywhere in their workplace. It leverages the existing corporate voice and data infrastructure where possible, driving down the cost of ownership for the enterprise and the mobile operator. In work environments where mobile coverage is poor or capacity is not sufficient, EnterpriseMobility can also be deployed to provide in-fill coverage and capacity. EnterpriseMobility includes InstantCoveragetm, a tool to deploy and manage the office network in an easy and automatic way, lowering the cost of deployment and ongoing maintenance. By using an unlicensed short- range radio technology, EnterpriseMobility eliminates the need for operators to carry out extensive in-building frequency planning to achieve conformance with their macro-cellular frequency plan. Norwood Systems' EnterpriseMobility opens the way for mobile operators to increase their revenues through two mechanisms: - By charging their customers with a monthly fee for providing wireless voice and data connectivity within buildings, and - By enabling operators to receive increased termination fees through capturing a larger share of the fixed network traffic originated inside the corporate workplace "EnterpriseMobility allows mobile operators to lock in the high value corporate customers that contribute the most to the operators' bottom line," comments Paul Østergaard, Chairman and CEO of Norwood Systems. "The GSM market is becoming increasingly competitive and saturated requiring mobile operators to look for innovative solutions. EnterpriseMobility comes at the right time, providing a way for operators to differentiate themselves." NOTES TO EDITORS: 3GSM World Congress At the 3GSM World Congress, Norwood Systems will be demonstrating EnterpriseMobility using Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, headsets and PDA's connected to the corporate infrastructure.
