Future of university learning on display at conference this week Innovations in teaching and learning that are set to transform the university environment will be on display at a two-day conference this week. Teaching and Learning: The Way Forward will showcase new thinking and practice in undergraduate and postgraduate education at University College London. As in previous years, academics from departments across UCL - the UK's top rated multi-faculty university - will exchange experiences on recent advances in teaching as well as sampling developments in technological aids. Innovations in teaching and learning at UCL include: · Helping NHS Doctors to teach medical students · Teaching graduate employability · The birth of the virtual department · Electronic study materials Speaking on the eve of the conference, Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith, Provost and President of UCL, said: "UCL benefits from a multi-faculty environment where the challenges of teaching in one discipline can be applied to others. Lecturers need no longer feel isolated but can work as part of a collaborative enterprise, where the most appropriate methods can be combined to bring about real innovations in teaching and learning.
