Hear'say to present prizes at legion's inaugural poppywalk

HEAR'SAY TO PRESENT PRIZES AT LEGION'S INAUGURAL POPPYWALK Stage adjacent to the 'Punch and Judy' pub, Covent Garden Market Sunday 5 May 2002 at 4.45pm to 5pm Myleene, Danny, Johnny, Suzanne, and Noel - chart-topping band Hear'say - will be presenting prizes to the winners of The Royal British Legion's first ever PoppyWalk on Sunday 5 May at 4.45pm in London's Covent Garden Market. Family groups, teams and friends will be walking ten miles around the capital's most famous sites, aiming to complete a quiz en route and win prizes including 'fastest round the course' and 'best fancy dress'. All funds raised will go towards the £48million the Legion spends each year offering emotional, financial and practical advice and support to some 13 million ex-British Service people and their dependants. The Legion said: "We are proud that Hear'say are joining us at the PoppyWalk. Their involvement will help us to raise awareness among younger people that the Legion supports people of all ages. Its ongoing work and fundraising is vital for the many younger ex-Service people and their children, as well as the older veterans." Hear'say, the winners of ITV's 'Popstars', previously joined the Legion in Covent Garden Market to perform the national launch of the 2001-2 Poppy Appeal, which the Legion hopes will raise even more than the £20.1million raised by the 2000-1 Poppy Appeal. PoppyWalk is supported by McDonald's Restaurants Ltd and Covent Garden Market.
