LATE AVAILABILITY....LATE AVAILABILITY....LATE AVAILABILITY.... 'Golden Shores, Azure Seas' offers the best of Italy's volcano-strewn seas and the idyllic beaches of the Greek Islands. Minerva, Swan Hellenic's floating country house, takes in Cephalonia's beautiful coastline, the Corinth Canal and historic Olympia before reaching Turkish shores in mid-September. The following cruise, 'Sunshine Hideaways' sails from Kusadasi to explore the highlights of the Aegean Sea, including the ultramarine seas of Ios, colourful streets of Mykonos and excellent snorkelling in the waters surrounding Alonnisos, a registered marine park. Late availability fares for the two 15-day cruises start from £2,055 and £2,300 respectively. Sailing from Naples to Sicily, the first of these itineraries offers astonishing views from a cable car ride up Mount Etna before cruising on to Cephalonia and Itea for the temples of Delphi on the slopes of Mount Parnassos. Minerva also visits the enchanting islands Delos, legendary birthplace of Apollo, Mykonos and spectacular Santorini, the latter a powerful reminder of the region's volcanic history. Guest Speaker Dr Peter Cattermole will be on board to discuss the influence of geological activity on the people and places. The cruise finishes in Kusadasi for Ephesus, Asia's first metropolis and home to the spectacular Library of Celcus. 'Sunshine Hideaways' sails from Kusadasi for the clear blue waters of Rhodes, an ideal place to test the water with marine biologist Dr Susan Gubbay who will introduce snorkellers to the underwater world. Continuing via Carpathos and Athens for the historic Acropolis, Minerva berths in Samothrace with its Sanctuary to the Great Gods at Paleiopolis, and Canakkale for the excavations of legendary Troy. The cruise ends in vibrant Istanbul, the meeting point of Eastern and Western cultures and home to the Blue Mosque and labyrinthine Grand Bazaar. Guest Speaker Graham Archer CMG will be on board to share his political experience and historical knowledge of Greece and Turkey. Swan Hellenic fares are fully inclusive of flights from London, transfers, accommodation, meals on board, a choice of tailor-made excursions, guides, taxes and tips. - ends - 20 May 2002 For reservations please call 0845 3674 632.
