MICHELIN TYRES CONTROL SUPERBIKE RESULTS FROM THE FRONT For the sixth time this season Michelin riders filled all the available podium places at last weekend's World Superbike show at Lausitzring Germany with the seemingly invincible Troy Bayliss claiming another double points bonanza. Right on his tail was Colin Edwards fighting to keep the Ducati rider in sight with two runner-up trophies whilst Ducati team-mate Ruben Xaus completed the Michelin domination. The seventh round of the World Superbike series was held at the impressive Lausitzring complex in Germany, the location of the first "Indy" style banked circuit in Europe. Bayliss, (Ducati-Infostrada Michelin) claimed his fifth double race win of the season. In the first race Edwards gunned the Castrol Honda into the lead to be passed by Bayliss on lap 18. Just one sixth of a second separated the two at the end of the race. Race two saw a similar tight finish with Xaus taking third place in the final laps. Canadian Grand Prix Juan Pablo Montoya sat on pole position at the start of the Canadian Grand Prix, clearly determined once again to unsettle the Schumacher expectations. A safety car period and then the lottery of the pit stops saw the BMW Williams Michelin driver have a share of the lead only for the audience to be robbed of a battle royal over the final laps when the Williams retired in a cloud of engine smoke. Juan Pablo was clearly upset, leaving the circuit in uncharacteristic tight-lipped mode. David Coulthard has clearly got a second wind following his impressive victory at Monaco. The McLaren Mercedes Michelin driver stayed cool and calm to move up from the fourth row to second and was clearly closing on the Ferrari as the final laps expired. Teammate Kimi Raikkonen was fourth with the Michelin shod Renault of Jarno Trulli sixth.
