FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2 April 2003 New Portfolio Builder from Killik & Co Killik & Co has launched Portfolio Builder, a new product designed for people looking for structured management of their investments. Portfolio Builder is a diversified fund portfolio selected by Killik & Co's research team. It is managed on a discretionary basis and is designed to meet individual investment objectives. Philip Browne, Director of Marketing, says: "Portfolio Builder is similar to a fund of funds, but because it is bespoke, the funds in Portfolio Builder will be chosen to help investors achieve their individual investment objectives, be they income or capital growth." The minimum level of investment is £7,000. Investors wishing to initially invest less will have their money invested in a selected fund of funds, and as their investment grows they will have the option to move into Portfolio Builder. Investors can use Portfolio Builder for this year's ISA allowance. They can also choose to move existing PEPs and ISAs into Portfolio Builder to bring all their investments into one professionally managed portfolio. Portfolio Builder has a simple charging structure with a 1% annual charge (min. £100) and a dealing charge of 1% per transaction (min. £30). Killik & Co has negotiated reductions in funds' initial charges, and in almost all cases these are waived completely. With the help of a personal broker, investors can choose the investment strategy that is right for them - either Growth, Balanced or Income. Funds that Killik & Co are currently using in Portfolio Builder include: Growth Balanced Income Fidelity Special Credit Suisse Credit Suisse Situations Income Income Cazenove UK Growth Cazenove UK Growth Old Mutual & Income & Income Corporate Bond Gartmore UK Focus Liontrust First Scottish Widows Income High Income For larger portfolios, more specialist funds will be introduced, such as Merrill Lynch Gold & General, Govett US Bear Fund, and NSAM Hiscox Insurance Portfolio. The more money there is in an individual's Portfolio Builder, the more funds the money is invested in. Because it is managed by Killik & Co, investors do not have to worry about when is the right time to enter and exit a fund, this will be done for them by Killik & Co. Investors will be informed of all such transactions along with a research note giving the reasons for the transactions. Philip Browne continues: "This is a great product for people who are looking to develop their investment portfolio. Killik & Co benefits from an independent research function and has a proven track record in managing Growth, Income and Balanced Portfolios of funds." When the portfolio reaches £100,000 it can be moved into Killik & Co's Managed Portfolio which offers direct investment into equities. Portfolios of £200,000 can be moved into the Killik & Co Wrap Account. Unlike other products on the market, investors will be informed of the reasons for all transactions - ie selling out of fund A and moving into fund B - and can access their portfolio online at www.killik.co.uk Portfolio Builder will be measured against the APCIMS Growth, Balance and Income benchmarks.
