Ofgem Appoints Kyran Hanks As Director Of Gas Trading Arrangements

OFGEM APPOINTS KYRAN HANKS AS DIRECTOR OF GAS TRADING ARRANGEMENTS Kyran Hanks has been appointed as Director of Gas Trading arrangements while the current director Nick Fincham, takes up a year's secondment as Chief Economic Adviser at the Postal Services Commission. Callum McCarthy, Chief Executive of Ofgem, said: "Nick has been at the forefront of the liberalisation of the energy markets having worked for both Ofgem and its predecessor Ofgas. We will miss his knowledge and commitment while he is away, but wish him every success during his secondment at the Postal Services Commission. "Kyran Hanks has an in-depth understanding of gas trading having worked extensively on this issue while Head of Network Operations at Ofgas. He will join our existing gas trading team to take forward Ofgem's work in reforming the current gas trading arrangements." Notes to editors 1. Nick Fincham will start his secondment with the Postal Services Commission on 1 September 2002. 2. Kyran Hanks joined OFFER in 1989 and then moved to Ofgas in 1994 where he worked on the Transco Price Control and the development of the Network Code. In 1998 he joined Enron working on gas and electricity competition issues in Europe. He will take up his new post with Ofgem on Monday 15 July.
