Global Crossing's seamless voice network began carrying more than four billion minutes per month in worldwide voice traffic during the first quarter, with much of that traffic using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology - classifying Global Crossing's voice network as one of the largest VoIP private platforms in the world. In the first quarter of 2002, Global Crossing's VoIP platform experienced a forty percent growth in traffic compared to the previous quarter and carried over 900 million minutes.
