ROYAL LONDON ASSET MANAGEMENT APPOINTS SHARMAN TO US DESK AND SETS UP CENTRALISED DEALING SYSTEM Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has today announced two high profile appointments. Starting in February, Ian Sharman joins as US fund manager and Martin Newport begins as head of UK dealing. Both will report to Chief Investment Officer, Andrew Carter. Ian Sharman joins RLAM's international equities team from SLC Asset Management. Ian spent nearly six years as senior fund manager responsible for £600 million of pension and retail US Equity Funds performing consistently in the 2nd quartile throughout this time. Prior to that, Ian was investment performance analyst at AMP Asset Management before joining Provident Mutual as senior analyst for US Equities. Martin Newport joins from JP Morgan Private Bank where he was a senior dealer in a centralised dealing team. Martin will be setting up a centralised dealing team for RLAM, supported by the phased implementation of the new back office system. Andrew Carter, Chief Investment Officer at RLAM comments, "We are delighted to have Ian on board where his wealth of experience and good all round performance in this sector will strengthen the existing team. "We are also very pleased to welcome Martin, who has twenty-seven years of dealing expertise. The continued growth of RLAM's fund management teams and the increasing burden of compliance has made it a logical step to set up a centralised dealing system."
