T-DSL VIA SATELLITE "POWERED BY ASTRA" LAUNCHES AT 19.2¡ EAST High-speed satellite Internet now commercially available throughout Germany Deutsche Telekom AG and SES ASTRA, an SES GLOBAL company (Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG, Frankfurt Stock Exchange: SDSL) are delighted to announce the commercial launch of the T-DSL via satellite "powered by ASTRA" as of May1 2002. The ubiquitous availability of high-speed satellite Internet throughout Germany via ASTRA 19.2¡ East, the country's most popular satellite system for direct-to-home reception, follows the successful completion of a 6-month pilot phase. In a survey conducted amongst the 500 trial participants, users expressed high satisfaction with T-DSL via satellite's high-speed page set-up and record download speeds as well as the quality of the video and music content. T-DSL via satellite can reach users everywhere in Germany, complementing and extending the reach of the terrestrial T-DSL offer of Deutsche Telekom AG. Using an existing resp. easy to install ASTRA satellite dish, equipped with a Universal LNB and a DVB-compatible PC- Card, users can now enjoy DSL download speeds of up to 768 kbit/s via the ASTRA Satellite System. At the same time, consumers can use their PC to access the entire choice of digital free-to-air channels on ASTRA 19.2¡ East and look forward to new planned services such as multicast radio streaming. Deutsche Telekom is offering two different packages for T-DSL via satellite "powered by ASTRA": The basic package of up to 500 MB download is priced at EUR 19.90 per month. Unlimited downloads are offered at EUR 39.90 per month. Consumers can subscribe to T-DSL via satellite online via Deutsche Telekom's Internet pages, at T-Punkt shops or with the Deutsche Telekom callcenter. Ferdinand Kayser, President and CEO of SES ASTRA said: "We are thrilled that Deutsche Telekom's new and innovative T-DSL via satellite service is now available on ASTRA 19.2¡ to anybody in Germany. The positive response from the trial phase, during which several thousand consumers pre-registered for the satellite service, confirms there is a real demand for satellite DSL services, notably in regions underserved by terrestrial high-speed networks.
