TO BE OR NOT TO BE SINGLE?

TO BE OR NOT TO BE SINGLE? That is the question being posed by the Slug & Lettuce as it hosts nation-wide 'About a Boy' nights. Today, Monday 22 April 2002, SFI's bar chain the Slug & Lettuce announces it will be holding nation-wide About a Boy nights on 24 April to celebrate its exclusive links with the launch of one of the biggest film releases to hit our screens this year. Singles and couples alike will be able to relax, chill out and enjoy watching the trailer for the film, listen to the top ten sound track by Badly Drawn Boy and have the opportunity to enter a competition to win a trip for two to New York to stay at the hip 'W' hotel. Customers will also have the chance to win exclusive film merchandise as the 48 strong bar chain will be polling people on the night to see what they like about being single or why they like being part of a couple - the dilemma faced by the film's lead character Will. Customers' comments and experiences will be used to build a 'wall of life' for others to take heed or inspiration from. The film, released in the UK and Ireland on 26 April by UIP/Universal Pictures and Working Title, is based on Nick Hornby's best selling book and stars Hugh Grant as Will, an incurably hip thirty-something Londoner. Rich, single and childfree he does nothing all day except be cool, avoid responsibility - and go on dates. In search of available women he invents an imaginary son and starts attending single parent meetings. Paul Filler, brand manager for the Slug & Lettuce says; "Our exclusive link with About a Boy builds on the Slug's growing association with the arts and the nights may provide people with the opportunity to find their perfect partner." -ends- For further information, please contact Zaria Pinchbeck, Lynsey MacCuish or Bronwen Mellor at SFI's press office on 01423 565533 or on 07802 837975.
